Oh, what a beautiful morning! Oh, what a beautiful day...

What a glorious day for all of us! For Kenny, it followed, more or less, the same course as yesterday. He awoke ready to get up and "get going". He was cheerful and pleasant all day long. Just after church, James and Judy Hunter, our friends from Danville, Virginia, dropped by to see him. He was thrilled and they were amazed. His memory and his talent for remembering names truly is a source of amazement.

The final day of the Masters Golf Tournament from Augusta was the focus of his attention for most of the day, with a few moments taken to check into the hostage rescue off the coast of Somalia. He stayed glued to the TV except for meals and he ate really well for all three meals today. He is a member of the "clean plate club" again today.

It is a joyous thing to experience the kindnesses of friends and loved ones. Today not only did we have visitors from church but the church also sent him one of the lilies that graced the altar this morning for the Easter eucharist. How blessed we are and what love we find in our friends and our community. God bless all of you.

  1. Your Easter day sounded delightful. We on the other hand wore winter coats in this region. I have followed the weather at the Inlet this winter through a weather site on my work computer. I must say you have had an unusually cold winter and early spring. There were days when I thought I was looking at a forecast for our region. I went to morning service with all the beauty of choir, musical instruments, lilies and the alter in white. Carl still felt lousy from his chemo for his platelet problem so he slept in. The kids came in the early afternoon and after opening some gifts of which books was the key word, we had a ham dinner. I gave Liz to out of print books she has enjoyed years ago and the one disappeared off my shelf for a while-Eugene Fields collection of poems including Winken, blicken & nod. My copy is from my childhood and I was not willing to part with it so now she has her own copy and a book called Elizabeth of the Mayflower. My copy was bought from her school library as it was not a very popular title but we enjoyed reading it aloud many years ago. Marianne, now calling herself Mary, is a book hound. She wanted to start reading her new books immediately and probably would have been content to skip dinner. Chuck likes Necco chocolate covered marshmallow eggs that come in an egg carton. Liz said I could bribe him with them. Because Chuck was tired, I took Liz & Mary to evening contemporary service. The scripture lesson was the Emaus Rd. An interesting & thoughtful end to Easter Sunday. We are all looking forward to sunshine and warmer temperatures. The only advantage to this very chilly un-Spring like weather is the tulips will not bloom ahead of schedule for Albany's Tulip Festival. It sounds like Papa enjoys the sunny days as much as we long for them. Sunshine does wonders for lifting the spirits as does laughter. I know you have heard the stories before but he sure entertained us at the Inlet especially the ones about having to get "out of Dodge" and wild west days that earned him the name Hangtownred. Unfortunately the days are going to be like a teeter-totter and you will swear an elephant just came along and sat down sending everyone skyward but just as abruptly gets up and leaves to let gravity take over. You mentioned the newspaper interview Papa, any chance the young techie people could scan that in along with the pictures? My techie scanned my graduation picture from nursing school in to represent me. Actually I am hoping this comment will fly, send, or what ever it does because last night it was dud and of course I have no idea why. I just loaded some music on my new iPod but there was some program that came up but I am clueless as to why I would want it so I did what I am good at "cancel". Liz will have to help me some evening. You all are in our prayers and on the church prayer list. Some time into the future there will be some events that will bring a smile, maybe a laugh but for now it's best to go with the flow. So Papa can now watch the golf or NASCAR action and feel like he is right there with the plasma tv. When I heard that the Masters was being played this weekend I figured he would be glued to the set along with some one else in the household. You are blessed to have so many willing hands to help the family and give a different set of ears to hear the stories. You are blessed with the Lord's love and that of family & friends. Ann
